Rear Upper Spring Pad (Suspension Insulator) ?
This suspension pad sits on the top side of the rear coil spring and acts like a cushion between the spring and the body/spring seat. Itβs needed to keep the suspension quiet, stable, and correctly positioned, especially on heavy family vans that carry passengers and luggage.
How It Works βοΈ
The pad is made from durable rubber-type material that absorbs vibration, reduces metal-to-metal contact, and helps the spring stay centered. When the rear suspension compresses over bumps, the pad spreads the load evenly and prevents the spring end from digging into the mount. This improves comfort and protects the upper spring seat from damage and rust.
When Itβs Worn or Broken ?
A damaged pad can cause rear clunking/creaking noises, harsh ride, and uneven spring seating. Over time, the spring may shift slightly, leading to poor alignment feel, accelerated shock wear, and possible damage to the spring seat. If ignored, you may notice uneven rear height and more vibration inside the cabin.
