Engine Coolant Temperature Sender for Hyundai/Kia ๏ธ
This sensor monitors coolant temperature and tells the ECU and dashboard gauge exactly how hot the engine is. Accurate readings keep warmโup, idle, fuel mix, and radiator fan timing on point. Itโs a small part that protects your head gasket, catalytic converter, and wallet.
Why you need it โ
Without a healthy temperature sender, the ECU canโt manage cold start enrichment, fan activation, or overheat warnings. Correct data = smooth running, lower fuel use, and longer engine life.
How it works
Inside is a thermistor. As coolant heats up, its resistance changes. The ECU reads this signal to adjust fuel and ignition, while the cluster shows the gauge reading. Many models use this unit for both gauge and control.
If it fails โ ๏ธ
Hard cold starts, high idle, poor MPG, black smoke, late/early fan operation, A/C cut, misfire, limp mode, or an overheating engine with no warning. A check engine light and wrong gauge reading are common.
Tech note ๏ธ
Always test wiring and connector, replace sealing washer, and bleed air from the cooling system after installation.
