This belt keeps the crankshaft and camshafts perfectly in sync. You need it to open and close valves at the right moment, protecting power, fuel economy, and emissions. A healthy belt means smooth starts, steady idle, and reliable pulling power every day.
How it works β±οΈ
The crank sprocket drives the toothed belt, which turns the cam sprockets. Fiber-reinforced rubber resists heat and oil. Matched tooth profile prevents slip. On some engines, the belt may also drive the water pump. Correct tension is maintained by an idler/tensioner set.

Cracks, glazing, or oil swelling signal trouble. Symptoms include hard start, loss of power, backfire, or no-start. If teeth shear or the belt snaps, timing is lost instantlyβon many interference engines this bends valves and can damage pistons.
