Engine Oxygen Feedback Sensor ?

This sensor is a key part of the engine management system. It measures the oxygen level in the exhaust stream and sends a real-time signal to the ECU. The ECU then corrects fuel injection to keep the air/fuel mix close to ideal. This means smoother driving, cleaner emissions, and better fuel economy.

Why this part is needed ✅

Modern Mitsubishi petrol-hybrid engines rely on accurate exhaust feedback to control combustion. Without a stable oxygen signal, the ECU can only “guess” using backup maps, which is never as precise.

How it works ⚙️

The sensor’s element reacts to oxygen content in hot exhaust gases and produces a voltage/resistance change. The ECU reads this signal and adjusts short-term and long-term fuel trims to maintain efficient burning and protect the catalyst.

What happens if it fails ❌

A faulty unit can cause a check engine light, rough idle, hesitation, higher fuel consumption, strong exhaust smell, and increased emissions. Long-term driving may overheat or clog the catalytic converter, leading to expensive repairs.
